Delta Celebrates 20 Years of Service in South Africa
Delta Air Lines recently marked 20 years of service in South Africa with a series of engagements in Johannesburg and Cape Town, celebrating two decades of connecting South Africa and the United States. The milestone highlighted Delta’s longstanding commitment to supporting tourism, trade, investment, and cultural exchange through reliable air connectivity.
As part of the celebrations, Delta hosted stakeholder roundtables and anniversary events with government representatives, business leaders, travel partners, customers, and media. Discussions focused on the role of aviation in driving economic growth, strengthening international connections, and supporting the evolving needs of travelers while also reaffirming the importance of direct U.S. connectivity in supporting the region’s tourism and business sectors.
Delta’s commitment to the market is reflected in its operation of the state-of-the-art Airbus A350-900 on its South Africa routes, offering customers the airline’s most premium onboard experience, including Delta One Suites, Delta Premium Select, Delta Comfort, and Delta Main. The deployment of Delta’s flagship aircraft underscores the airline’s continued investment in South Africa and confidence in the long-term strength of demand between the two countries. Looking ahead, Delta remains focused on identifying opportunities to further enhance connectivity and expand access between South Africa and the United States as market conditions allow.
As part of the 20-year anniversary celebration, several Delta team members were also on hand at Quadcare South Africa to hand over new custom wheelchairs to children with quadriplegia, part of Delta’s ongoing commitment to the communities where the airline serves.
Looking ahead, Delta is focused on continued investment on strengthening ties between South Africa and the U.S. through connectivity, thoughtful partnership, and deep community engagement.
